America for Christ Offering 2011
This month we will be taking an offering to support America for Christ. This year’s theme— “Touching Lives, Transforming People” - is an encouraging reminder that Jesus’ public ministry was all about transformational hope for people in need. With His hands, Jesus touched, comforted, prayed and blessed people. The same hands, whose power restored sight to the blind, made the lame walk and miraculously fed the 5000.
We are impelled by this year’s theme to touch people with whom we come in contact every day with the transformational love of Jesus Christ.
You will find more information about the ministries this month in the church bulletins.
Please prayfully consider giving to this ministry.
John and Tomoko Armagost serve as missionaries to Japan. We were privileged to have John visit our church, and our Awana kids have adopted them as one of our missionaries. If you would like to go to their the International Ministries website to read more about the Armagosts, including up-to-date news and journal reports, click the photo above. American Baptists are answering the call to provide relief after an 8.9 earthquake struck Japan on Mar. 11, followed by a devastating tsunami along the coast. An initial $20,000 grant from One Great Hour of Sharing has been approved for the Japan Baptist Union for relief efforts. Rev. Makoto Tanno, JBU General Secretary, has expressed great appreciation to American Baptists for the quick and compassionate response through OGHS.
Dr. Reid Trulson, International Ministries executive director, said, "A Baptist World Aid rescue team of people from Hungary, Singapore and the US has gone to work alongside the Japanese first responders. Please pray for those who have lost loved ones, those whose lives have been so severely disrupted, and those who are on the front lines providing aid and comfort."
Armagosts & other American Baptist Missionaries reported safe
