Senior Adult Ministries (S.A.M.)

SAM group will dine out - May 19th. We will meet in the church parking lot at 11 am for a trip to Montana Mikes in Lawrence. We have several people signed up to drive in case you would rather ride than drive. The S.A.M. will pay a portion of the meal - we will have more details on the amount that will be paid in next week’s bulletin. See Sheryl if you have any questions or specific needs.

Senior Adults will offer autobiography class (4/1/09)

Would you like to: sharpen your memories, write your autobiography, learn more about the meaning of your life and share your life story with others? Now is your chance. We are excited to start a guided autobiography writing class this month. This class will last nine sessions. We will meet the second and fourth Monday of the month, excluding Memorial Day. The design of the guided class will be to help you organize your thoughts and cue your memory regarding specific topics. The supplies will be provided, all you need to do is show up ready to have some fun. Our first session will be April 13th. We will work from 9:30 to 11:30 am. Even if you are unable to make it to every class you can still complete a wonderful heirloom. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Sheryl Stemmons.

S.A.M. will have a speaker on April 21st at 10 am. The topic will be posted in the bulletin, and around the church so keep an eye out for it. Your speaker from the Jayhawk AAA in March was full of great information. If you were unable to make it to the March meeting and would like the information let me know. I would love to fill you in and pass on the brochure.

DVD's of church services are available (3/1/09)

The weather is warming up and hopefully you have all had opportunities to get out and enjoy it. With the warm weather we will be picking up our programs, so keep an eye on those bulletins.

Our church sermon DVD distribution program is moving along nicely. Thanks to the tech support, especially Harold Reed for copying the sermons to DVD so quickly. Thanks to the Forsberg family for helping get the DVD and player distributed. If you know anyone who’d like to receive the sermon each week please call the church office.

March SAM meeting will feature speaker from Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging (3/1/09)

Mark your calendars for Tues., March 24th at 10 am. The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging will provide an informational meeting of the services. This agency is not just for home bound folks, all are welcome. The Agency is a wonderful resource to find answers to a multitude of questions.

Keep watching your church bulletins for information on the Autobiography class. We plan to start this month but haven’t been able to pin down a start day. It should be very interesting, even if you don’t think you have anything to write about, we will lead you through the process.
